Water Safety Instructor - WSI

Our six-level Learn-to-Swim program is unlike anything offered by other learn to swim programs. The program is designed for children over 6 years all the way up to adults, and students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Each level of our Learn-to-Swim class includes training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency, in addition to stroke development.

Course length: Varies by location. Courses typically meet for 8-10 sessions of 30-45 minutes each​.

​Safety Training for Swim Coaches Blended Learning

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Training options feature two core courses—Lifeguarding and Shallow Water Lifeguarding (available in a blended learning format)—plus optional add-on modules, including waterfront skills or waterpark skills modules. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.  There must be a minimum of 3 students for training.  Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements.  Course lengths: Lifeguarding  Traditional in-person course format 30 hours, 20 minutes

CPR For Professional Rescuer

Purpose The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience and is offered in traditional classroom or blended learning (online learning with instructor-led skill session) formats. Prerequisites None Length Course lengths vary depending on course components included; from about 2 hours to just over 5 hours.

​​​​​​The purpose of the American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches course is to teach those involved in competitive swimming, including coaches, officials, athletic trainers and aquatic exercise trainers, how to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies, and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land. This program is offered in a blended learning format.  Must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Must be comfortable in chest-deep water
Learning Objectives

• Understand the guidelines for responsible coaching and professional conduct, and the legal responsibilities of a professional coach.
• Understand the coach’s responsibility for providing a safe and positive sport environment, including raising awareness of, and actively working to prevent, abuse in the sport.
• Understand the safety considerations that are paramount in planning athlete training and swim practices in pools, on dry land and in open-water situations.
• Understand the safety rules and guidelines that must be followed when teaching and practicing turns and entries.
• Understand the coach’s role in emergency planning and response.
• Learn how to recognize and respond to common first aid emergencies.
• Demonstrate how to perform basic assists to a swimmer in distress.

As a public safety professional or healthcare provider, it is your duty to respond to cardiac or breathing emergencies until more advanced medical personnel can take over. From assessing needs and making decisions to providing care, this professional-level certification program teaches the basic life support skills required for your job through discussion, video and hands-on training based on real-life rescue scenarios. Course covers adults, children and infants and includes free online refreshers. Instructor-led and blended learning options available.  Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a 2 year "CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers” digital certificate.  Course length: From 6 hours to 8 hours, depending on course option.

The CPO® certification program requires participation in either a two-day class (14-16 hours) taught by a certified instructor or the blended format that combines the online Pool Operator Primer™ and one day of the Pool Operator Fusion™ class of instruction.  The CPO certification program includes pool and spa chemistry, testing, treatment, filtration, maintenance, automatic feeding equipment, and government requirements.  The CPO certification program requires an open book written examination.  The CPO certification is valid for five years
